Dishwasher installation across Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia

A dishwasher swap is a two hour job when the lines under the sink are in good shape. We pull the old unit, check the supply valve and the drain tailpiece, set the new one, level it, anchor it to the counter or the cabinet sides, and run a cycle while we watch every joint.

Tell us what needs fixing. We text back within the hour, 8 to 6.

Or call or text (240) 802-7282. Hours 8 to 6, Monday through Saturday.

How the job goes

The thing that turns a swap into a longer visit is what we find under the sink. A supply valve that will not close, a drain line without an air gap or a high loop, or a cord that was hardwired straight into a box. We tell you before the visit which of those you have, from a photo of the cabinet.

Jobs we take

  • Like for like dishwasher swap on the existing lines
  • Supply line and drain hose replaced with the unit
  • High loop or air gap added where the county wants one
  • Panel ready and compact units in older kitchens
  • Old unit hauled away
  • Cabinet floor replaced after a leak, same visit

Who installs a dishwasher in Maryland

A dishwasher hooked to existing, exposed lines is the one appliance Maryland law names as home improvement, section 8-101(g). An MHIC licensed contractor can do that swap, and that is handyman work on our crew. A plug in cord into the receptacle under the sink is part of it.

If the supply or drain lines have to be altered, that part is plumbing under section 12-101(n) and goes to the licensed plumber on our bench. If the old unit was hardwired, the connection is electrical services under section 6-101(k) and goes to the electrician. The estimate names which trade is coming before anyone drives out.

In Maryland, piping, a plumbing fixture or a plumbing appliance is plumbing services under section 12-101(n) and belongs to a licensed master plumber or someone working under one. The one exception the statute names is hooking a dishwasher, disposal or icemaker to existing exposed lines, which section 8-101(g) calls home improvement, so an MHIC contractor can do that part.

The Maryland rule in full, with the statute sections, is on the Old Line Home Repair license page.

What it costs

A dishwasher install is priced by the visit, with the unit either supplied by you or added to the materials line. The nearest finished jobs on our list are the two shutoff valves replaced in Annapolis this October for $217 and a disposal swap in the same town for $265 with the unit. A dishwasher swap on clean lines lands in that same range of work.

  • Two water shutoff valves replaced and a bedroom window resealed, two houses

Annapolis, MD, Oct 2026. Labor and materials.

    $217

What moves the price is on the dishwasher installation cost page.

Every job is done by a contractor licensed with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission (MHIC). The license number is on your estimate.
